The posse then argue over which member should get his horse until the execution is interrupted by ambushing Comanche warriors. The leader of a posse asks for his final words, stating they previously " convicted" him and sentenced him to death while he was semi-conscious. When the cowboy regains consciousness, he is mounted on his horse under a tree with his hands tied and a noose around his neck. The teller then knocks the cowboy out with the butt of his shotgun. He returns fire, but the teller charges him while wearing a washboard and several pots and pans as armor, deflecting the cowboy's bullets the teller gleefully cackles "Pan shot!" repeatedly as a result. As he is fleeing, the garrulous bank teller shoots at him, forcing him to take cover behind a well.
